Question Starting Health

I went to different forums and was able to find the starting energy statistics for the different professions.

Ranger : Energy 25, regeneration +3
Warrior : Energy 20, regeneration +2
Necromancer / Mesmer / Elementalist : Energy 30, regeneration +4

However, I didn't find any references to the Health (Hit Points) and I'm not able to test it as the last beta week-end is over (*sigh* - can't wait for the retail )

Is the starting amount of Health and regeneration rate identical for all professions ?

This question is important for me as I want to do a Vampire type of Warrior (based on damage and health stealing). However, I can't decide what is the best between N/W and W/N. If Warrior starts with a larger amount of health, I'll probably go for a W/N. If it's not the case, I'll go for a N/W (as the armor difference would not be a enough big reason for me to have less energy).

Thanks for the answer !

Yes. Only thing that will change your total health are level, items, vigor runes, major and superior runes, and skills. There is no difference between health from profession to profession.

all professions have a base of 480 maximum for health at level 20. there are no inherent +health modifiers on armor so no class has a health advantage over the other. warriors have higher AL and a bonus against physical damage. the difference between necro armor and warrior armor is significant.

Thanks ! I have everything I wanted on this forum...

So to recap differences between W/N & N/W based on a Vampire type of warrior :

W/N

+ Higher Damages (19-35)
+ Higher Armor ( at 20 dmg average, a 100 physical armor resists 1/2)
- Smaller energy Pool (20)
- Smaller energy regen (2)

N/W

+ Higher energy pool (33)
+ Higher energy regen (4 + Soul Reaping)
- Smaller Damage (11-22 - Damn that sucks )
- Smaller Armor ( at 20 dmg average, a 70 Physical armor resists 1/5)

I'm just not sure about the Damage... How are they calculated ? Let's say a Warrior & a necromancer have respectively 10 in swordsmanship and have exactly the same weapon, does it mean that the warrior will do higher damage ?

And by the way, what's the general opinion between blood/damage based W/N and N/W ? Are they respectively as efficient in the melee ? Logicaly, the W/N does higher damage, but the N/W resists longuer because of high energy ?

That depends on the armor/items. Gladiator's armor and foci for offhand will increase that.

Profession does not affect damage. The attribute Swordsmanship will, so if all factors are the same (sword damage, enemy armor, Swordsmanship lvl) then they will be doing same damage.

The warrior primary will do more damage with melee weapons because of the strength attribute. Strength is warrior primary only attribute. Strength adds to the damage that you do with melee weapons since it is considered to be penetration damage.

According this damage calculator : http://www.gwunderground.com/www/ind...e a84648d36ca

The difference between a 0 & 12 strengh in damage is just ridiculous.

On a 100 physical armor with a 20 base damage, a warrior with 0 in strengh will do 10 dmg & a warrior with 12 in strengh will do 12 dmg.

In addition, on a W/N or N/W build based on damage and blood (so, weapon attribute = 10+ & blood magic = 10+), I don't see any place for a high strengh attribute.

the AP bonus for strength is minor and only applies when using skills.
when choosing a primary, remember that armor not only defines how much damage you take and how much energy you have/regen, but also what attributes you can upgrade with runes.
a necro primary can raise swordsmanship to 12, but that only leaves half of his attribute points to distribute in other places. a warrior primary can raise swordsmanship to 10, boost it to 12 easily with runes/headpiece, and still have 2 more 10+ attributes.
anything less than 12 in your primary weapon attribute hurts your base damage output as well.

This a very good point. However, for a N/W or W/N oriented in doing damage and stealing hit points, Blood Magic and Swordmanship will be as important. And as a Primary Necro doesn't have any bonues to Weapon attribute, a Primary Warrior doesn't have any bonues to Blood Magic... In a conlusion, the two have advantages and disavantages that leads to have the same amount of point...

I didn't get the chance to play a warrior, but I dealt most of the damage on my Necro in all of my parties, especially in situations where mobs were in groups.
